Surface Preparation

Achieving optimal results begins with thorough preparation

1. Clean Surfaces:Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and free from dust, grease, wax and contaminates. Use a degreaser if necesary for oily surfaces.
2. Remove Loose Material:Scrape away any loose or peeling paint and remove any algae or fungal growths with a fungicidal wash.
3. Abrade Glossy Surfaces:Lightly abrade smooth or glossy surfaces to promote adhesion. For metals, ensure they are free from rust and scale.
4. Weathered Wood:On Untreated weathered wood, new wood and other porous substrates, lightly sand the surface to open up the grain.
5. Priming:For bare steel apply a suitable primer if rust is present. No need to etch or pre-prime galvanised steel; simply allow it to weather for two months before painting.
6. Testing for Stains:If there is a risk of staining from the substrate, test a small area with the paint before full application. Use a stain block as needed.

Application Methods

• Brush:For detailed work and touch-ups. Use a quality brush for smooth application
• Roller:Efficent for larger areas; choose a suitable nap for the surface texture.
• Spray:conventional H.V.L.P or airless spray for an even finish. For airless use 2700 psi with a 515 tip; for conventional 40 psi with a 1.3 tip

Tool Cleaning

Clean all brushes, rollers and spray equipment immediately after use with warm soapy water. Ensure thorough rinsing to remove all paint residue. For any dried paint soak tools in water before attempting to clean.

Storage & Safety

• Store upright in a cool, frost-free place above 5°C
• Keep out of reach of children
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment during application
