Description
Rising Damp Protection
Si-Check, a silane based emulsion cream that treats the problem of rising damp on a variety of walls using a patented technology.
Rising damp occurs when there is an upwards flow of moisture, derived from groundwater, through a permeable wall structure. If left untreated it can cause damage to interior decorations, increase heat loss and even erosion of the building fabric. (See top left picture) There are also widely documented negative health effects.
Si-Check is designed to solve the problem of rising damp. It is easy to install via hand pressure from a simple displacement pump and injector lance into a series of pre drilled holes into the mortar course. Si-Check can be used in most walls including stone, brick and rubble construction without the need for any high pressure expensive equipment.
The height of the damp in a full‐sized masonry wall depends to a great extent on the absorbency of the elements it is made from. Generally, though, the height is restricted due to any moisture brought in by rising damp evaporating before reaching its full potential.
Therefore unless evaporation has been impeded, heights more than 1.5m are relatively rare. Evaporation can be inhibited by factors such as the local climate, a northerly aspect, seasons, unheated homes and the thickness of the walls.
